UBE to Host the 18th UBE Classical Concert -- Nurturing Children with Music
2025/08/08 News ReleaseUBE Corporation (President: Yuki Nishida; Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter, "UBE") is pleased to announce that it will host the 18th UBE Classical Concert on October 12, 2025. For many years, UBE has held this concert, featuring the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, where UBE was founded, as part of its social contribution activities. Our current focus in holding this event is to support music education (at schools) and promote a culture of music in the local community.
As part of its efforts to support music education, UBE will invite elementary and junior high school students, not only from Ube City but also from the neighboring cities of Sanyo-Onoda and Mine, to the 18th UBE Classical Concert to provide more children with the opportunity to experience classical music. By doing so, UBE aims to support children's growth through music, which the Company believes contributes to achievement of SDG 4, "Quality Education."
For this year's concert, we invited conductor Toshiaki Umeda and Sekitoshi Nobusue, the principal horn player of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mr. Umeda has performed with major Japanese orchestras for many years, and is highly trusted by orchestras as a conductor with precise baton technique and a sincere attitude toward music. This will be his third appearance in the UBE concert.
The horn is an instrument whose appeal lies in its rich, warm tone, but it is also known to be extremely difficult to play. Mr. Nobusue has been a focus of attention as the "face" of the orchestra with his advanced technique and expressive performances. This year, the UBE Classical Concert will feature a horn player as a soloist for the first time in its history.
Since the first concert held in 2008, all proceeds from admission fees have been used to promote local music culture. This year as well, UBE plans to use the proceeds mainly to donate musical instruments to the brass band clubs of junior high schools in Ube City.
In addition to the main concert, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra will also visit medical institutions and the City Hall to play in Outreach Concerts, which will be held as opportunities for exchange through music. The orchestra will also hold "Music Clinics" for junior high school brass band clubs to support children's music activities.
The sponsorship of this concert series is just one part of the UBE Group's efforts to fulfill its corporate responsibility to help build a sustainable society, guided by the UBE Group Basic Policies for Sustainability. We promote social contribution activities inside and outside Japan in order to play an important role as a responsible corporate citizen in developing local communities.
From this viewpoint, UBE will continue to host the UBE Classical Concert series to create a bright future for children with music.
